// HAPPY (BELATED) HALLOWEEN
* We humbly apologize for the delay in not only recording an episode for you (which we did on the 31st) but then in editing and posting for you.
- Work has been extremely busy for myself, Michelle’s assignment as a temp ended, so she is actively looking for a new position. Then there’s our continued issues with our apartment, and we are now beginning to look for a new place. Then there’s NaNoWriMo and I’m dedicating as much time as I can to getting butt in chair to write. We both hope you understand and we shall get another episode together as soon as possible (probably after watching Breaking Dawn Part One).

// COOKBOOK
* We talked about absinthe, including the one I made by maceration of herbs and spices into Everclear (190 proof), but there was no distillation. So by legal definition, this is not really “absinthe”.
- Wormwood was also not macerated into the spirit (since I cannot distill the result) — instead I added a wormwood extract after the herbs were macerated and filtered. This produced a gorgeous olive green color, minimally bitter, but high proof alcohol. I prefer the Everclear because it helps break down the natural oils in the herbs better than the vodka did. This just means you need to use about half as much absinthe in your cocktails because it is WAY too strong.
- We did a taste test between ours and two other commercially available absinthes (in small bottles).
- We made a Corpse Reviver and an Obituary Cocktail. Poorly. (Some substitutes do not suffice.)

- I just finished this book and it has everything I love in a novel: vampires, steampunk, and sex (oh my!)
- I give it 4 out of 5 stars. I describe it to folks thus: If you thought Gail Carriger’s Parasol Protectorate series didn’t have enough smut and too many werewolves, pick up AVALON REVISITED. I loved the characters and setting, and I am hoping there is a sequel because I loved how it ended leading the way to more.

- Gail has announced that there is a new four book YA series in the works. The Finishing School Series will be set 25 years before the Parasol Protectorate but in the same universe.

* That’s right, we are finally holding a giveaway contest. We’re calling this the “Come Out Of The Coffin Contest”!
- All you have to do is post a review of OoTC anywhere (but iTunes and similar podcast directories would be preferred) and then send me an email with your full name and address. Every review is an entry into the contest. Feel free to post all of your reviews and then send me one email with a list of them all, or multiple emails will be fine.
- Only verified reviews will count as entries. They don’t have to be 5-star reviews, but if you do have criticism, make it honest and constructive. Only entries with a real name and shipping address will be validated for the contest.
- I will draw three random names from all and those winners will each get a copy of BLAMELESS signed by Gail Carriger.
