* This is episode #4, for February 29, 2008.
(Download MP3)

// FOR THE BLOOD IS THE LIFE
* Our compilation album of dark music, FOR THE BLOOD IS THE LIFE, is on sale now for only $13.
- Chiefly we are selling this to raise money to host La Bal Masqué Nocturne this year, which in turn is to benefit the ACS.
- However, in addition, part of the sales of the CD will be donated directly to the Joe Murphy Memorial Fund.
- So you get to listen to some wonderful music and help out some good causes.

// MEETUP
* Previously, we talked about using Meetup.com for finding like-minded groups.
* We created a group system on OutOfTheCoffin.com to maybe provide a new home for that group and others of like minds.

// MOVIES, OSCARS, and VAMPIRES, Oh My!
* We watched the Oscars, and were not surprised that this year's vampire movies were not nominated. Not even "I Am Legend".
* For the trivia buffs out there, only one vampire movie has won at the Oscars: 1992's "Bram Stoker's Dracula", by Francis Ford Coppolla.
- It actually won three Oscars: Costume Design (Eiko Ishioka), Makeup (Greg Cannom, Michèle Burke, Matthew W. Mungle), and Sound Effects Editing (Tom C. Mccarthy, David E. Stone).
- It was also nominated for Art Direction/Set Decoration, but lost to "Howards End".
* Other films that have been nominated are:
- "Interview with the Vampire" (1994) for Art Direction and Music (Original Score).
- "Shadow of the Vampire" (2000) for Makeup and for Supporting Actor Willem Dafoe as "Max Schreck".
* Help us put together a list of the Top 25 Vampire Movies.

// SECOND SHIFTERS
* SecondShifters.com has a new podcast.
- I mentioned it in episode #3. Their first interview was Hungry Lucy.
- This Saturday, March 1st at 12:30PM Eastern will air an interview with Cell Division, which will then be released as a podcast on Sunday.
* More cool news from Second Shifters, they have recreated their sister site, SilentShadows.com, for folks to submit written works to.
- In addition, they will be selecting stories from SilentShadows to air on a new Open Mic Night on SecondShifters.

// IN STORES NOW
* "Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter: The First Death" graphic novel was just released.
- I own the comic book issues this was originally published in, and they were very cool. I really enjoy this series.
* 30 DAYS OF NIGHT on sale now.
- Still debating whether to buy this for posterity or not.
- I will buy I AM LEGEND when it comes out. We already own RISE, which was a sleeper hit, IMHO.
* BLADE: The Complete Series DVD on sale now.
- I just bought this as I loved the show and am looking forward to the extras on this one.
* Just recently found and bought the DVD release of the 1977 BBC miniseries of COUNT DRACULA, starring Louis Jourdan.
- I have heard it said many times that this was a very faithful production of Stoker's novel.
* Also bought Michelle Belanger's solo album "Blood of Angels".
- A beautifully haunting addition to our music collection.

// NEWS
* BREAKING DAWN, the fourth and final book in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight saga will be available on August 2, 2008.
* Don't forget that TWILIGHT is coming to the big screen, directed by Catherine Hardwicke ("Thirteen," "Lords of Dogtown") and starring Kristen Stewart ("Into The Wild") and Robert Pattinson ("Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"). It will be released nationwide on December 12, 2008.
* Send us news stories at http://del.icio.us/OutOfTheCoffin.

// FAREWELL

* We wrapped the show by playing the third track from our album which is on sale now, FOR THE BLOOD IS THE LIFE, for only $13.
- The song is "Look And Feel Years Younger" by Brad Sucks. Thanks again, Magnatune Records!
