Vampires, Witches, and Geeks, oh my!
* This is Episode #008 for July 24, 2008.
(Download MP3)

// VOICEMAIL and FEEDBACK
* We have a new voicemail number: (206) 350-7638
* The one I originally had for this podcast died from lack of use. :( Ironically, this number is the one from our previous podcast and is still active.
* We have voicemail from a friend of ours, Donovan McElroy. He called to let us know about his new blog, mcJurnl.com.
* We also received email from listener Adam who wants to keep us on track for cranking out podcasts. He also mentioned a couple sites that are in the News next. Thanks Adam!

// TRUE BLOOD NEWS
* BloodCopy.com - Blog setting up the events in the TV series.
* TruBeverage.com - Another related site, this one selling "Tru:Blood", a synthetic blood beverage for vampires who've come out of the coffin.
- Make sure you check out my favorite ad on this site: "Friends Don't Let Friends Drink Friends."
* Finally, the real site for the series True Blood, which premieres on HBO on Sept. 7, 2008. It is based on the Southern Vampire Mysteries books by Charlaine Harris, starring Anna Paquin as Sookie Stackhouse.

// BUFFYVERSE NEWS
* More word from TheWB.com, which is still in invite-only Beta, but will open to the public August 27th.
- Not only do they have episodes of Buffy The Vampire Slayer right now, but they plan to have Angel available online when they launch officially. Also, for the Browncoat fans of Joss Whedon, you'll be happy to hear that Firefly will be joining Buffy and Angel on TheWB.com.
* Continuing on with Buffy news, I found out that the Buffy Tarot deck has been scrapped.
* And finally in Joss Whedon news, don't forget about Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog! which can be downloaded from iTunes.
- Apparently if they end up making a DVD of this awesomeness, it could have the very first ever DVD commentary that itself is a musical! Yes, you heard me five-by-five. Musical rapture!
* Read these and other stories at http://www.outofthecoffin.com/news
* Send us news stories at http://del.icio.us/OutOfTheCoffin.

// MOVIES
* We have a NetFlix queue for us to watch vampire movies from, which we shall keep since Netflix has decided to keep Profiles around!
* This month's movie is Will Smith's version of "I Am Legend" (2007), which is the third film adaptation of Richard Matheson's I AM LEGEND. (8/10)
- I have to say I like this movie a lot, but I still liked "The Omega Man" more. This rendition is definitely the horror/thriller of the three, and scores with the special effects. Plus, it has Will Smith.
- We also watched the Alternate Ending version of this movie, and we both agree we prefer the alternate ending. It definitely strays from the book and prior movies, and frankly, we like how they pulled it off.
* The movie we have next in the queue is Andy Warhol's "Blood For Dracula".

// TONGUE-TWISTERS (aka Michelle's Word of the Day)
* It is totally irrelevant to the topic of vampires, but Michelle wanted to share the story of my naughty and weird Peter Piper tongue twister.
- We dedicate this part of random goofiness to Jack Mangan, who is soon to reach episode 100 of his awesome Deadpan Podcast.
"Peter Piper picked and packed a peck of pickled pork nipples.
Nipples of pork pickled and packed did Peter Piper pick.
If Peter Piper didn't pack his pick of pickled pork nipples,
Then the people's peepers would proceed to peer at Peter Piper's prick."

// BOOKS
* All Kinds Of Things Kill anthology by Robert R. Best is now available to haunt your earbuds. You can download the anthology as a podcast from Podiobooks.com.
- I really enjoyed these stories, and Robert’s wife who reads them has a luxurious voice. My favorite stories are "Charity and the Vampire" and "The Family Tree" (which has the only "happy ending" of this series). This author’s first book out of the gate has some good stories and their first podcast is worth the listen.
* Morven Westfield, author of DARKSOME THIRST and THE OLD POWER RETURNS, has a brand new podcast called Vampires, Witches, and Geeks.
- She recently mentioned us on her podcast, and we'll be interviewing her soon.

// CHAT
* Michelle and I went to Las Vegas last week.
- We saw Bite at the Stratosphere again and loved it even more than when we first saw it in October 2004. Antonio Restivo is awesome as the new Lord Vampire. The aerial duo, Cees and Cathy, again awed us with their acrobatics. We also thrilled to hear the new lead singer, Mark Giovi, who was just plain amazing! Last but not least, the Rock Angels were hot and still bring on the spice for the show.

// LA BAL MASQUÉ NOCTURNE
* The decision has been made to cancel this years' ball.
- However, we are working on Spring 2009 plans. "Spring Hopes Eternal" at the new MasqueradeOfFools.com

// PROMOS
* Billi's Crazy Eights and Double Trouble, promoting Billibub Baddings and the Case of the Pitcher's Pendant by Tee Morris and Digital Magic by Philippa Ballantine, both of which hit Amazon.com on 08.08.08.

// FOOD TALK
* We talked again about Frozen Beef Blood, but Michelle delved a bit more into some ways to enjoy it.
- More Vampyre Cookbook recipes coming soon.

// FAREWELL
* We wrapped the show by playing the seventh track from our album which is on sale now, FOR THE BLOOD IS THE LIFE,, for only $13. Remember, part of the sales of the CD will be donated directly to the Joe Murphy Memorial Fund.
- The song is "Amnesia" by Roots of Rebellion. Thanks again, Magnatune Records!

* Our intro music is "Stigmata" by George Hrab from his album Minutiae. Check out his podcast, his albums, and his new book, George Hrab's Non-Coloring Book, now on sale at Lulu.com!

That wraps up this episode of the Out Of The Coffin podcast. Thanks for listening!
